Since a couple of you are server owners, what made your server successful? Did you do anything different than the thousands of others who create servers every day? How long have you run your server?

Personally I choose a gamemode I really enjoyed that not many servers had which made up successful. It took over a year to become somewhat popular though.

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I ran a Factions server, but not just any factions server. I added a whole new game play of Drugs and Guns. My 2 biggest things to make the server run correctly was. 24/7 support and trying to make everyone as happy as you can. I know for a fact that I achieved that milestone. I ran that server for a year and a half with 15-20 players on daily. With a 2k profit. So in my opinion it was pretty successful. I later on sold it because I was on that server day and night. I stopped going to the gym. I stopped going to school sometimes cause it was like a full time job to me. I know it was stupid to pick a block game over education but sometimes jobs / money takes over you sometimes.

But in conclusion to this, you have to be very dedicated. Very professional and very creative in the game play you think about. You do that. You will have a successful server.
Beautiful speech i cri

Make a unique game mode that no one has seen before or don't try to copy another servers ideas. Also don't give up. I was about to give up when I had 5 players on but I stayed with it for over a year and slowly grew into a 200 player server.

Yeah people are usually shocked that I am on and talking to players when they first join. Its like they've never seen an owner play on their own server before XD

Who did you sell it too?
Yup, it's insane how a game can just take you over. After running it for a year and a half I had to sold it because I was a sophomore when I was supposed to be a senior this year. I am now catching up on my school work on a credit recovery school next to my old school to get back on track. But no worries. I was able to catch up with my credits but it's good I didn't waste anymore time

I've never spent any money on advertisers or youtubers. Our server peaked to 120 this month. Mostly by word of mouth. I heard advertisements don't usually pay off though?

Going to keep that information on the buyer anonymous. And the amount of cash. With all do respect. He's still working on making the server back alive and etc. and I don't like to bother him/ put pressure on him at this time.
Ok np.
