A friend and I are looking into possibly starting up a hosting company, not 100% sure yet. Anyways, want to know what you guys think we should charge per a GB. I've been told $2, $3 and etc. Just want to see what a lot of you guys think. Can't find a better spot to put this thread so I chose the Hosting Section.

Specs on Dedi:
E7-8890 v4
64 GB ( Right now, can easily change this as we can mess with the hardware in real life it's located in my friend's dad's datacenter that he owns. We just mostly want a rough estimate of how much we should charge per GB due to how good the CPU is )
1 TB of SSD ( Changeable as well )

It honestly kinda depends on how much it costs you per month.

Say it costs you $70/month for a 64GB dedicated server, then that means it costs you $1.09/GB a month. You could aim for like $2.50-$3/GB etc.

Well, I was speaking to someone about the price per GB and he was saying that people look at specs first, couldn't but think that was BS due to where the hosting for Minecraft Servers has been going with $1/GB and $0.50/GB shit.

Most of the hosting companies which do this own their hardware, therefore there is no monthly cost and they can earn their investment back over time.
We also own our hardware.

You can really make up your own prices then. It doesn't matter as long as you pay off your hardware in the long-term.
It really depends on how fast you want your ROI.
Thanks for the information.

Why would you use a E7 for Minecraft server hosting?

Basically, we were gonna launch a server and I was telling my friend aye have your dad set us up a Dedi and he was like okay what CPU you want? I then said probably just an i7-7700 or something and he was like how about an E7? I just said fuck it and was like sure why not. lol

We also own our hardware.

You can own your own hardware and be paying a lot for colo. 64GB of ram for $70/month is not bad tbh. I guess it comes down to the colo price and your selling price. What data center is this?

You have discord I don't mind helping you out with any information I can.

If your getting free colo id try and pack that server with as much ram as I could also e7's use a lot of power. What PSU does it use dual 1200w?

Not sure yet because we're still setting it up and haven't finished everything on it just know that we're gonna be using that CPU.
