Right. So all I here about is people saying "If you don't have the funds, don't open up a server". I agree with that but, how much do you actually need?

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

There was a post about this not too long ago, I would suggest trying to re-find it. There was alot of good information within it.

Hosting $15/mo (starting out), domain name $12/year (or $1 month for budget planning), maybe a few premium plugins $25 to $50, maybe pay for configs, builds, etc. add like $30 or $40 to your budget, maybe $15 towards a half decent website. Altogether you're looking at around close to $100 when it's all said and done for a pretty decent start-up server that doesn't suck and has all the main features you'd expect. You can probably bump it up to about $150 if you factor in graphics, getting an animated banner, maybe buying cheap advertising somewhere.

After that you need not money, but rather time and passion. Make yourself a trailer for YouTube, reach out to others on social media, find passionate players who will be staff members eventually, start them out as [Helper] rank.

Yea you need $100 to $150 to start it up but what really matters is after that, the passion and care. Make sure your server is 100% bug free before release, do lots of testing, beta testing, correct bugs, learn your config and your plugins really well so that you yourself can make changes without relying on other people.
