How do we shutoff email notifications? It's so annoying, getting 20 emails each day, 18 of them from MCM.

Wipe magnets across your computer. Usually does the trick.

Go to Preferences then turn off get email notifications:

I use GMail and I have a custom filter on it to mark as read and send to my archives.

Have you tried turning it off and on?
