How to advertise a MC server

I own a lifesteal server on Minehut and a custom SMP that I host.

Are there any budget/free places to grow my server? I already have posted both on major server lists. The LifeSteal has around 50 active players and a maximum of around 30 at one time, and the custom SMP has 15-20 active players and a maximum of around 5 at one time.

I know someone already mentioned google ads but make sure your website has the proper SEO for your brand. That way if you use the right keywords or phrases, you may at least be able to get front page of google for little to nothing

Add voting links to your server currently for more popularity if you havent already done so

Get a youtuber with decent amount of subs to make some videos about your server and it'll blow up if it's decent. Doesn't even have to be good with enough exposure

Subs doesn't really matter, motivation to stay with your server does matter. All the fans around the youtuber will just leave the moment the youtuber will stop uploading.

Go with something like TikTok and build your own following, some SEO and trailer reuploads might also do the trick.

Right. I'm lucky enough that the youtuber for us is part of the staff team, what I meant to get across was that social media presence is key. Recently I've been starting to allocate more money towards SEO and such. Unfortunately my days are numbered as a boomer and am bad at TikTok.

Don't only focus on the basic stuff of "advertising" like listing on a server list, you'll be rank 10k, and you'll only climb because of other reasons for your growth. What I've seen work is SEO & TikTok. I've already seen that you're a "boomer", but for that there are always outsource options, you can't and don't have to do everything yourself.
For serious inquiries about SEO you can reach out to me on Discord (Mart#9999), but without a proper made & setup website, spending heavily on SEO won't do much, so you'll need all the parts in order to make a good product (I make websites as well)

After a few months, here's the only thing that worked:
tiktok ads and a youtube channel failed
server lists/website did not work

https://minehut.com ads were AMAZING. I grew my server in a few weeks to 60+ players and over 100 on the weekend. If you need to ad your server GO FOR THIS SERVICE!

I feel ya! I still have to learn TikTok myself. I still have to learn how to properly do a video!

Honestly, some free ways to actually do GOOD advertising are

- YouTube: Start your own YouTube channel for yourself or your server, post updates, a trailer and make a few bits of content on there for people to consume, use proper SEO and good thumbnails and titles.
- TikTok: make a tiktok account and post on there about your server & what players do. Stage a few, it doesn’t matter if you have to stage because people will want to be on your TikTok page if it goes semi big.
- Voting pages / server listing sites: no brainier, not the best but do work

paid solutions are as follows
- YouTube ads: make them interesting
- YouTubers: don’t pick someone who has done your Gamemode before, it creates clashes, viewers love seeing something new when their favourate creator does it.

as far as I know, that’s really it. I’m not a big MC expert but that’s what I’d do if I was starting a server.

TikTok imo is the current gem in MC Server advertising that isn't super diffcult for new servers to get a good base of players from.
