Don't click away, this is the hands down step by step guide to becoming a trillionaire.
There's actually 3 parts to this, these are my 3 possible career paths so bear with me.

Space Age Corporation
Step 1) Get the cost of getting materials into space down to a reasonable price so that you are able to get other companies supplies into out of space for a price. Currently the price is between $350 million through the 100% track record ULA and SpaceX's $61.2 million cost. You'll want to get your launch cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $10-20 million before you can start step 2.

Step 2) This is where your company forks, you now have 3 branches. Space Tourism, Space Corporate Services (Cargo & Building) and lastly the Asteroid mining division. You knew it was coming, I know but you forgot the other 2. Your Space Tourism company will build tons of hype around your company driving up your stock price giving you more capital to drive the launch cost down further to your Corporate Services branch and by supply and demand make you more money. The money from your Corporate Services goes to developing your asteroid mining program. Pick an asteroid full of rare materials like Platinum and get your rocket ready. I would suggest 2 rockets actually 1 to bring the other 1 there and 1 to bring the asteroid back to make your mining operation easy (if you park it around the moon).

Step 3) Mine and sell your asteroid. This step is really straight forward, you and your investors reap the incredible amounts of money while your Space Tourism branch splits to both Tourism and Mars and Venus occupation. Your asteroid mining branch continues this procedure. Your corporate branch helps other companies catch up to you as well as develops a Dyson cluster, selling power to other space corporations.

That is my career path 1. Sounds fun but wouldn't really starting paying off for another 50 years or so.

Quantum Imortality
This one is in a very philosophically grey area but it would work.
Step 1) Develop a way to upload your consciousness to a computer. This technology will be tested on earth as well as scaled up to allow more people to be uploaded onto the same system so that you can charge others who want to live forever and fund your operation. This is going to space but it makes sense so bear with me. The philosophic grey comes in when you realize that computer you will live forever, but assuming the process of uploading your consciousness to a computer doesn't kill you, does it really count as living forever if the bodily you dies at a normal rate while cyber you lives on inside the computer?

Step 2) Determine a method to power this computer for an indefinite amount of time. The most secure method of achieving this would be through a Dyson satellite around the sun that would run off the energy from the sun. The other method would be by placing your computer deep within the earth's crust and powering it by geo-thermal activity. This is limited though as Entropy may destroy your system and is limited to about 7.6 Billion years.

Step 3) Do it! This one is fairly simple. Contract out with one of the Space Corporations to place your Satellite in orbit or dig a really deep hole. Then, once you and you're computer clients are down in the center of the earth or off in space contemplate back on your planet descending into chaos if you're computer brain is really you and was it all worth it if the limited human you will never be able to experience the joy of a the programmed Utopia the cyber you will live in for all of eternity (or seven billion years).

Quantum Suicide
This one relies on the accuracy of an unpopular theoretical physics principal, but if true could mean theoretical immortality. It's a thought experiment.
Step 1) Setup a system that will guarantee your death based on a coin flip. It really doesn't matter what the odds are as long as one option is certain death and the other is certain continuation of life. This is the premise to the way you'll live forever.

Step 2) Run that system on a continuous loop. For example, every 5 seconds have a gun right against your forehead shoot. 50/50 chance there is a bullet in the chamber. You just stand there and hope for the best. Every time the trigger is pulled the chamber is empty. Repeat this experiment, 100, 1,000, a million times. Every time the trigger is pulled you don't die.

Step 3) Enjoy immortality. This is all based on the truth of the many worlds theory, and the fact that you are in the part of the many worlds theory that you always get lucky enough that you never get shot. This woul be a last ditch effort to live forever.

So which one of these options is my best career path? I would like to think being a trillionaire would be fun, but an infinite Utopia also sounds kind of amazing. Worst comes to worst I could leave it all to chance and try some good old Quantum Suicide.

Doesn't anyone else worry about flooding the market with "precious metals" dropping the price by a large amount?

Depends on which metal. In the past, it was a really big risk with gold since it was mostly valuable due to its rarity and only slightly due to its properties.
Nowadays gold is in constant demand for computer circuitry etc, so the 'platform price' is higher. ofc, it'd still plummet, but not as far as it would've half a century ago.
