Depends on which metal. In the past, it was a really big risk with gold since it was mostly valuable due to its rarity and only slightly due to its properties.
Nowadays gold is in constant demand for computer circuitry etc, so the 'platform price' is higher. ofc, it'd still plummet, but not as far as it would've half a century ago.
True but things like silver, platinum, etc would drop a LOT.

platinum, again, practical value due to its non-reactivity. Silver is mostly true though.

If something is practical and oversaturated, price wont just stay constant or slowly decline. It could have a large drop off.

Spenser Ivain actually your best bet for a first asteroid would be 162173 Ryugu, made up of primarily nitrogen, cobalt and iron, it both has a fuel source built into it to get back. It's valued at about $86 billion.

Yeah, cobalt and iron would indeed be a good place to start, those are materials whose value originates almost entirely from practical reasons.

Did you see this on a youtube video by any chance?
Most of everything I’ve learned on trivial topics like this is from various YouTube channels like Wendover Productions and PolyMatter.

I would recommend selling Yeezies to unidentified space creatures and tell them it's our biggest treasure. Bam now you've got yourself a galaxy.
