I feel like this post is contradictory. First you say people with high rep can still be scammers but then you say there are also high rep people who don't scam. If you don't want to be scammed, you should just take the proper precautions like upfront payments and if you don't trust them, use a middleman.

Your argument is invalid since a high rep MiddleMan could scam too, just less likely.

You don't become reputable selling expensive shit. You get reputable by selling overall and not scamming/backing out of deals in the midst of the purchasing process. The reason high tier members are exit scamming is because a lot of them are quitting the community (Both minecraft and MC-Market) in general. Though there are trustworthy users who don't have as much reputation as others such as Mat. Other users require MCM to run their business in general, so them scamming would just ruin them overall.

In short, you gain reputation by selling, giving away/giving back, and supporting the community. In any market, you're bound to lose money one way, or another. There's no escaping it.
