Hello,

I'm opening a factions server (I know, original af) and I'm not sure how much $ I'll have to spend to get it out there. I also don't know what ways I should advertise. I'm aiming to get around 20-30 concurrent players playing on 'alive hours'. If anyone is experienced in this and is willing to share their knowledge please do so as I am new to this and I wouldn't want to step in with the wrong foot.

If you're looking to get paid I am open to that as well, however I'll need some sort of guarantee of a minimum x amount of players, or something similar. Please PM me with information, and a pricing structure if you're interested.

Thanks!

Most people would recommend paying YouTubers to record on your server. If you don't want to do that slots can be quite effective as well, but can be extremely costly on some sites. 20-30 active players is a pretty hard goal to reach I'm going to be honest, but it definitely isn't impossible. Make sure though to "hold the player base", do that by having active staff, fix any bugs on the server asap, and have community events to keep the community active.

I know my advice is probably not very helpful but hopefully it gave you an idea at least lol
Thank you :) Some people have told me 20-30 is fairly easy to get but I assume they meant overall player-base then and not the on at a time type? I will get YouTubers but I'm not sure if I should get them right away or a bit after release.

I found that SEO Advertising is actually quite beneficial, Incoming traffic to your website or published articles works as well.
But a Budget of $250 a month would work, if you're looking for something long term.
Thanks, would you mind explaining it a bit? it's basically adding the right tags and such right, or is it something more than that? Also would the $250 just be for SEO or others methods as well, which SEO platform would you recommend?

A 20 - 30 concurrent playerbase will require different amounts of money and depends on the timescale of your advertisement.

Using a 250k-500k youtuber for a 5 - 10 episode series, probably costing around $500-$900 will have a 95% success rate in getting your playerbase to above 20-30.

Using a 100k Youtuber would work alright and would cost around $400 for a series, however any less I wouldn't advise going for.

If you're looking long term then I would advise what 15x says, SEO is the way to go ;) if you want longer term stable players, the good thing about SEO is that the more you do, the more effective it becomes and the more weight it holds, bringing in players from google, the most effective source of traffic for anyone.

In the end though it doesn't matter how much money you put into advertising if your server isn't top quality, people will not stay and Youtubers will not play if it's just blatantly mismanaged and has a ton of bugs.

I would not advise slots unless you have a rather large playerbase anyways, they tend to bring those "come and go" players.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information! The prices you mentioned for YouTubers are lower than what I expected tbh, do you happen to know people who offer those prices? I was thinking of getting a lot of small YouTubers but maybe what you said would work better for what I'm looking for.

If its a Factions server, Make a catchy trailer and get youtubers to upload them. Depending on the sub count they charge like $10- $100 to upload the trailer. I know Petabyte has a service about uploading trailers :p

ps Petabyte Ill see you this sat on royalty Kappa

Didn't really think trailers worked, and I'm not really a fan of them personally, but now that you've mentioned it I guess it would be worth a shot to get one done, after all I'm already a few hundred dollars deep in wasting my money ;-; Would you recommend anyone specific to make a trailer?

Ill add-on something different as to what others have already said. In my experience, a closely knit community helps immensely. For social media I recommend Discord, Twitter, Forums, and a Reddit if your server is very unique.

I'm planning on trying to have a non-toxic community, but my problem is how I'll form that from 0 :( people usually just leave if they see an empty server.

Trust me, its easy to have a non-toxic community on social media with the right staff and moderation especially if your going for a small community and player base. :)
