How to get into minecraft server setups?

Could possibly depend on if you're wanting to create a server or just buy a setup and go from that.
If you're going to create a server from scratch knowing Java could be helpful as you can debug things yourself and create custom plugins in which you might want which can save money in the long run.
If you're going for a pre-made setup knowing how to configure plugins is helpful and needed, knowing java isnt as much of a requirement but still worth learning.

Another very important aspect is creating a unique concept and thoroughly planning your server before starting to develop stuff. Make sure it's stuff that's new to the minecraft world. we don't need the 10 millionth BedWars server that has the same downloaded plugins like everyone else has.
When I started working servers in 2015. I started working on servers. Everything was so unavailable, today you have YouTube and all the possible forums and dosings for every plugin which is great
So I have used many server setups in the past. One thing you should never do is buy setups and just use them like that. Your server is doomed at that point. You gotta change it a bit, make it more unique, replace features (cuz they mostly suck), etc etc. Using a setup straight out of the box is BAD!
