Title says it all,
Some people have been ddosing some of my servers and I want to at least scare them with some legal stuff, or file a lawsuit or whatever...
How do I start? Has anyone done this in the past?

Contact your host and ask them what they'd recommend you do.

Just gonna say that unless they're little kids, threats of legal action won't scare them. Unless I'm wrong it's only illegal if it causes more than 5k worth in damages, or other stuff like medical records/government stuff. Get a better ddos mitigation service or threaten them back. You don't necessarily have to ddos them back, but you can collect some info on them (a lot of options available) and threaten them (you don't have to go through with it just to scare them)
Hmmm, well I dont really want to start a ddosing war with them... But I will keep that up to mind.

There has to be another way to take care of a ddoser... Haha

Go to your local police, take all the information you have on the user (IP, Minecraft name, Skype etc...) file a police report on the person and they will open an investigation.

Even if they do not have enough proof, the cops still may call and question the person, that may scare him.

Will do, then afterwords the guy will be like 'once i had the police call me' 'ohh I am bad ass!!!!!'
hahaha

But I will be sure to do that next time the guy ddoses me.

Here's a method that has worked for me ever since I started using the Internet:

Ignore them. These ddosers, they thrive off attention and reactions. Making threads like this and asking them to stop will only make it more entertaining for them. If you just take a little break f the online world they will get bored and they will move on.

It's not really worth it to take legal action upon someone for DDoS unless it causes $5,000 USD or more in damages.
1. Loss to one or more persons during any one-year period (and, for purposes of an investigation, prosecution, or other proceeding brought by the United States only, loss resulting from a related course of conduct affecting one or more other protected computers) aggregating at least $5,000 in value.

Being many DDoS attacked are spoofed nowadays, it would be hard to identify the source of the attack if you don't know who or what is initiating it. It's best to just invest in proper DDoS mitigation.

Switch hosts to one with a proxypipe, or a similar method of handling DDOS attacks. I would recommend Jesse' host personally.

I think ddosing is really gay...

People ddos over almost anything, its not just because you are a competing business anymore.
