I'm sure it happens to at least a few other legacy users as well.

Back when MC-Market forced a secure connection, Chrome got in the habit of saving the HTTPS url.
While BeBosny was still around, although a secure connection was not forced, the HTTPS pages still worked and loaded correctly.
Now they do not:

I recommend you add something to your nginx config to automatically redirect HTTPS connections to HTTP (since you're already redirecting from mc-market.org to www.mc-market.org).

How is a big marketplace/forum like MCM doesn't have an SSL Certificate ?

There was so much discussion about it years ago.
Basically:
1) MC-Market isn't storing super confidential information like credit cards, bank account information, etc.
2) It can create vulnerabilities / leaks server information, prompting DDoS attacks.

But it does have a valid certificate, it's just the site is not properly setup to use HTTPS:
