Mindless Mining will be launching late summer.
We are looking for hosting services able to handle 1000 players on a modded Minecraft server. The server is running on FTB Infinity Lite (mod list), including about 20-30 Spongeforge plugins.

We need the obvious; dedicated "named" IP (ex. mc.myservername.net), good control panel, ddos protection, etc.
We also need options for both EU and US server locations.
We expect detailed hardware list, and dedicated uplink.
We will not post a requirement list of hardware because we believe that a hosting service who's not able to come with a recommendation based on the info in this post is no hosting service for us.

During the buildup time (time from now until launch) we will try out multiple hosting services.

Looking forward to see what can be offered.

I would recommend getting a dedi(TITAN NODES DEDIS!!!) but if you want shared hosting either get titan nodes mc plans or fastsrv.io unlimited ram plan.

Why the fuck are shared hosting companies replying, he has a 1000+ playerbase, and we both know he needs his own dedicated server if he has that kind of playerbase.
it says "able to handle 1000+ players"[DOUBLEPOST=1529162391][/DOUBLEPOST]and they also havent launched yet which means they prob wont get 1000 players

Shared hosting companies replying to this thread just serves as proof that they don't even know what they're doing.

No, you can't run a modded server with 1000 players, it's impossible due how the minecraft server software works, it's single-threaded, and even if some mods/plugins have their own threads, the main game thread still runs on a single thread, also it will demand a really high amount of cpu power because of the mods, you'll be lagging and using just one or two cores of the cpu with a single server. I suggest you to create multiple instances of the same server and join them using a bungeecord, you can have a percentage of your players play on S1, another percentage on S2 and so on, to get the max player limit of each instance you can do some testing to see what is the maximum of players a single instance can handle without lagging. You can see this implemented at MineYourMind (https://mineyourmind.net/). Also you need to get a dedi for this, shared hosting won't make it.

You are gonna need a server with High Bandwidth (Bus Bandwidth) and High Clock Rates (4.4+) along with some damn good RAM Speed.

View our dedicated server range: https://clynex.com/dedicated

We can possibly offer you a discount if necessary. We can also register your domain name for you with our host.

Champion0912 Im gonna give you an honest stance on what is needed:

You will have to have a dedicated. You will need this generation Processors (L#### And X#### are legacy and trash)
You will need a HUGE clock rate: 4.4 (high preferably)
It will need to have a decently timed RAM (Tight Timings)
Alot of the responses for advertising in this thread have been nothing but legacy hardware and are trash. Look at different markets.

For that kind of server, you would be better off with dedicated hosting. Find a system admin and go with a company like OVH. Best of luck!

I think that it's become pretty clear that you won't be able to hold 1,000 players on a modded server no matter what hardware you get unless you decide to create a network of sorts. Even for regular Minecraft, servers start getting laggy once you go over 200-300 players without the proper optimizations.

Anyways, if you still decide to go forward with this, I could offer you this server for only $70.00/month located in Dallas, Texas:
  • Intel Xeon E3-1271v3
  • 32 GB DDR3 ECC Memory
  • 500 GB Samsung SSD
  • /29 IPv4 + /64 IPv6 on Private VLAN
  • DDoS Protection

If you're interested in this, drop me a PM and I'll get you set up in under 24 hours.

You are absolutely correct in that no hardware can maintain such a playerload.
We've been looking into Bungee for a while, but the problem with using a networked server cluster is that permissions has to go through a database, meaning we can't use flatfiles.
Just because you seemed to know what you're talking about; Would you recommend spending the time with databases, or would it be a better alternative to write a script which looks for updates in a flatfile on one server, for so to copy the file onto all the other servers and reload the permissions..?

Use a database.

Using flat files in the way you've mentioned can lead to race conditions where certain data can be lost or corrupted.

That's what I thought too.
