I've seen a lot of people here brag about hypebeast clothing. I believe it is a massive waste of money. When you can get something that is just as good, or sometimes even better, in both quality and looks for a fraction of the cost, why spend the extra money just to get that brand name? The money spent would, for most people here at least, be far more valuable either saved or invested.

Though, that is just my opinion. I might be wrong, so please (attempt to) change my mind. Let's get this conversation going.

Ultimately, your opinion, my opinion, or any other opinion on this or anything else doesn't matter as long as the person buying it wants and enjoys it. Sure the shit is overpriced and most of it looks like garbage, but I'm not going to parade around telling people who buy the stuff that. They already know and have decided for themselves they still want it, so there is no point in criticizing them when they clearly have different taste or a passion for streetwear. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and tastes, but when someone tries to decide what is right or wrong or what is worth it or not worth it for another person who has already made their own choice, that's when I see a problem.

You also gotta take in consideration that value for items can also go up because of limited quantity so they will probably re-sell that items that they bought and make 2x the value!

That's one of the few advantages I can actually see to buying the items, and I agree that it might be worth it as an investment. However, it is still way overpriced for whoever buys from you.[DOUBLEPOST=1559949775][/DOUBLEPOST]
That's your opinion. When you have no money and all you have is $80.00 you made on MCM. I can see why you say that but speaking for myself. I love quality and the finest things in like. If you want to spend all your money on Minecraft accounts. That's your choice but don't say Hypebeast clothing is a waste just because someone wants t look good, fresh, crispy, like a million bucks. You know the buzzwords.
While I partially agree with your statement, I would also argue that you can get both quality and looks for much cheaper. In fact, the shirt I am wearing now is great quality (has lasted more than a year without any damage and is really comfortable), looks good (imo) and cost me only $2 on sale. I understand if you want it as a flexing piece, but that does not change my viewpoint. I have seen shirts very similar to e.g. supreme go for less than $10 in multiple different stores. The only difference is the brand name.

Well. That's your viewpoint. No one can change that. I think people spending more than $60.00 for "OG" Minecraft accounts is a waste of money. I think capes is a waste of money but guess what. Doesn't matter. People still gonna buy capes and pointless OG Minecraft accounts which have no meaning IRL. You know why? Because quality isn't what dictates the how much something is. The market does. Supply and demand. You can argue all day long about how much something is but it's that way because there's a demand.[DOUBLEPOST=1559950455][/DOUBLEPOST]
I agree that OG/Cape accounts are just as much of a waste of money as (I believe) hypebeast clothing is. Like I said, I agree with some of your points, but believe there are better alternatives.

You're just beating a dead horse now. You believe their are better alternatives. That's good for you. Buy those "better" alterntatives. They're not for you. They're for people who can spend 75000 dollars for a suitcase and not regret it while we spend $20.00 on a pizza and regret it. Like spending $800.00 on an "OG" Minecraft account ain't for people like me. I work for my money. I don't go to mommy and daddy for my weekly allowance.
The people spending $75k on a suitcase are either rich enough to buy basically anything they want (to a certain degree) or really bad at managing money. I might have been unclear in the first post, but what I believe is that most normal people (including 99% of the people here) could spend the money better. If you have more than enough money, sure, buy that hypebeast clothing. However, if you have to earn money from McM, you would (again, imo) be better off saving the money or investing it. In my opinion there's nothing that makes the clothes worth more than what you find at much cheaper prices. I understand that it feels like something that is an achievement from work. I also understand that it is something people can collect. However, for most people here there will be big and, for many, unplanned expenses in the near future worth considering. I've not seen anyone above 25 here, barely even above 20. Most people I've seen buying these clothes are in their teens or 20s. Sure; some of them might be in a position where it is safe to purchase these clothes, but considering how many (including a lot of people who buy hypebeast clothing) are just one or two paychecks from broke, it is not a good use of money (imo). Sure, some of it can be resold, but that's not really my point. If it is bought to be resold, I would consider it an investment. Though, I do respect your opinion, and am happy to hear it.

It comes down to simple economics. If people are willing and able to buy HypeBeast products at a high price, they’ll continue to supply their products at that price. Yes it’s overpriced, but do you think they honestly care?

Cba reading your opinion but, I feel like those who buy Hypebeast shit are only doing it to "show" their wealth when in reality they are broke and spend all their money on clothes, look at the richest people in the world they were <$100 outfits because they have more to worry about. I could personally buy tons of expensive clothing but i don't see the appeal in it and would rather save money in the long run than buy something that will go out of season in a couple months or get ruined with one coffee spill

I like going out and someone saying nice jacket. Where you got that from. We tryna stand out. Not look like a bum.
Honestly, looking amazing is not that hard to achieve (just follow some fashion instagram pages and copy the outfits). Looking slick when only spending $5 on a tshirt and $7 on pants without it damaging your look is extreme sport. That's where the fun is imo.

I dislike Hypebeast clothing as most of the times it looks terrible IMO. However, I can understand why it appeals to some people. Everybody should just do their own thing.

I'd have to disagree with you here. People like luxury items and most of the time luxury items are expensive and not for everyone. Just like here on MCM. People spending $1000 on Minecraft cape accounts and Fortnite skins is an example of people paying for luxury items. However not everyone likes spending their earned money on kids games and would spend it where it can be appreciated by others e.g. expensive clothing and looking nice. It's the same with everything there is always luxury items but it doesn't make it a waste of money just because you're not interested in it.

I feel that hypebeast clothing can be justified if you have too much money and you want to flex. But I dont understand why someone would work and save up to buy a supreme bogo hoodie

I get that it is seen as a luxury item, but I still do not really see what makes it luxury. Take a Rolex, for example. Sure, you pay a premium for the name, just like hypebeast clothing, but the watches are also really well made mechanically. Lamborghinis are just the same; you pay for the extra performance. For the hypebeast clothing, I do not feel like anything justifies the higher price. The quality is the same, but there is a logo on it.

My yeezy's are the most comfertable pair of shoes I own. I feel the quality is actually superior to cheap/regular clothing. And if you have the money why not spend it on something you like and that other people will appreciate just like a Minecraft cape or a OG twitter name. While it doesn't do anything different it is still a luxury item to have whether it be rare and wanted or a collectors item. Lot's of hypebeast clothing or accecciories are very collectable/rare which is a reason lot's of people buy as they are collectors.
