I don't quite understand how "null" as a string can break anything. Like, for real. I'd love to dig into it and see what they did but I'm far too lazy for that.

As you can see, when I try a message by Ally, it returns null. When I try one by Eric, it returns Eric.

So it seems that jQuery is taking data-author="null" and making it null. Workaround would be to force data-author to include the "@".

If this gets fixed by the resource author in a future update then I will update to fix it, but at the moment this isn't a priority for something that requires custom development to get fixed.
