I changed my server jar and it deleted my inventories!

i changed from 1.8 to 1.7 - 1.8 then it removed inventories then I Changed it back to 1.8 and it still doesnt work

Hey orange I am not sure if you remember me but sorry for the inconvenience, there is no way you can get this back unless you have a backup. Once you switched to 1.7 - 1.8 it converts the files to 1.7 with blocks & etc.. but once you switch back for some reason spigot nore and type of jar besides vanilla likes to convert them back properly. So therefore even if you could get them back most of them may become corrupt.

when you can buy a server for $2-4 per GB all the kiddies bust out mummy&daddys creditcard then realize they have no idea wtf they are doing and it is gone after the first month lol. I get many kids on my server ask me how to set one up as if i have nothing better to waste my time on lol

I wasnt pointing fingers i was generalizing, hence why i was replying to Riaz not you.
However i think you made a pretty nooby mistake. The change from 1.7 to 1.8 is pretty significant and you should of at least ran it on a local test server first before doing it on your servers. Id be pretty pissed off if i was one of your members and would prob leave if you didnt fix it.
the way you are asking how to fix it shows that you dont really know what you are doing and i would of said your just a figurehead owner and you get your dev to do all of the backend stuff. To fix it go back to what you were using and replace the files with your backup, then research how to upgrade, Some plugins etc wont allow you to update so you will have to do it manually or not at all, which you would need to announce that you are doing a world reset. as for the players inventories i suggest you give them 1 day or so to put all their items in chests then you can log what they have and manually give it back
