I just bought this, thought it would be time to upgrade my wifi, any thoughts? It was the best one I could find

It depends on the distance between your devices. If it is quite far then it defeats the purpose of 5ghz, because it has a more limited range. Also keep in mind that some devices only support 2.4ghz. Therefore I wouldn't recommend it if a) your devices are far from the router and b) most of your devices only support 2.4ghz wifi.

What I did is got a Unifi Router, then routed Unifi access points in every room. That's obviously the best option.

Sure you'll get crazy WLAN speeds, but if your ISP is only giving you 100 Mbps bandwidth, that's all you're gonna get when downloading anything from outside your local network.
