Hi everybody, I need some advice.

Here's the case, I've been working on this server for around a year now. It's not constantly though, I started last years' summer working on the core of the server and kinda dropped the idea a few months afterwards. I picked it up again around last March and in this years' summer break I was working on it non-stop.

It's a 1.14.4 survival server, but with a bunch of gimmicks and features. For example, classes, levelling, quests (powered by the beautiful people of MMOCore), dungeons and even random things I think are cool like an adaptive music client and a server resource pack that updates some of the ambient Minecraft sounds to fresh new ones. The server is full of custom scripts, plugins and completely re-configured existing plugins that add cool gimmicks and features to the game. I've even been working on a custom OST for the music client, but that's kinda on pause right now.

Now, that all sounds pretty cool and good but I'm at the point now where I'm basically ready to launch the server or test it with a few people, but I'm stuck. I've spend way too much money into this for a dedicated server, plugins, builds and other random stuff that I'm at the point that I wonder if it's even all worth it. I mean, all of the gimmicks and features I added are cool and all, but when I actually played on my own server with a friend with no admin permissions, I realized that I spent almost no time interacting with the features on the server that would make it 'special', but we were instead just playing Minecraft like normal.

All of these features are taking up resources that could be instead used to just launch a decent 1.14.4 survival server, instead of trying too hard to be something else. It's not even a lot, it's just that I feel like it's not even worth it, especially after spending so much of my time in it.

The server is a solo passion project and I got some help from friends, but there is no way I will be able to keep up this idea and server alone, especially with almost no funds. So, what should I do, because I don't know anymore, it's been giving me a lot of stress and it's affecting my personal life, so I feel like completely dropping everything and just call it a learning experience.

In case you want to see what I did, you can check out the website, there is a bit of info on there: https://playventura.com/

I experienced this before and my advice is to drop it. If you ever feel the urge to work on it again in the future you can always resume, but if it’s not making you feel happy/fulfilled right now you shouldn’t force yourself to continue.
