As for the getting players. I hope you have money. Advertising takes over half the normal budget for an MC server. CosmicSkies is still gathering funds for it as the estimated cost as of now is $440 for what we want. I would at least have over $150. If you have that, contact me and I can help.

If budget is an issue. Try offering some YouTubers a role as a Media Owner in exchange for like 5% of profits. But be realistic, dont be messaging PrestonPlayz or SSundee or something like that, get a few 1k+ youtubers and you should be fine
also, a trailer. after getting a good trailer, get your media owners to post it or pay a youtuber to post it. then get them to title the video [Server Name] - Re-upload For Crate on SOTW or something along those lines. hopefully this will start a chain effect and bring in lots of players.

I would say find minecraft youtubers with 1-10k subs with min 500 views and ask them want to join my server and gte ranks. you should also say that your doing a giveaway and let the youtber promote it

You firstly need to pick your staff carefuly! make sure they are trust worthy and dont abuse (better yet set up their perms to a level where they cant unless you truust them!)
Youtubers as everyone else is saying is a great way to get a lot of players on the server, voting with fun rewards as well as events and giveaways to draw people in at key times is also a great way.

I'm probably going to repeat this a thousand times now I've said it once here but here we go:
YouTubers are NOT reliable. People that recommend you to use YouTubers or Streamers are very, very uneducated and the YouTubers and Streamers are also 100% not reliable. Their fanbase visits all games they play for a chance to meet the YouTuber, not to play your gamemodes. I've worked on YouTuber networks already, seen many issues with them and people still seem to think it's all down to YouTubers.
Recommendations for growing a network are as followed:
I don't advise listening to people's suggestions if they're recommending YouTubers. My advise is stated above, take it or don't.

- Box slots, purchase in the summertime. You'll gain many advantages above other networks if you are unique.
- Have a strong knowledge of how to moderate your network. This will help you in the long run to train and mentor your new staff.
- If you're looking into hiring YouTubers, I recommend offering them a contract which binds them into an ownership percentage of your network. That way, they can't leave and run off with your money nor are they legally allowed to break your set terms. (JoeyGraceffa for example)
- Be professional with every choice you make, this will show leadership and the fact you have a strong mind.
- Don't be afraid to speak your mind to your players, if they're truthfully happy about your network, they won't be afraid to take your words into consideration.
- This isn't as much of a recommendation, but never be biased towards anyone for any reason. This will instantly make your players turn the other way.

First off, you need to understand some things:

* Do not start with BungeeCord. (I did this mistake and I regret it): Your player base will split in every server (So, example, 3 players on SkyWars, 5 players on Factions, 10 players on Hunger Games) Why not just have all the players happy on one server with a quality player base?
* You will have to risk some of your money. Pretty self-explanatory, you would have to pay for advertisements, and you'd either get the money you paid back, or not.
* If you fail, and lose your money, it's not "bad luck". It means you have made something wrong.
* You will have to hire a PAID developer, since free developers are just some new people that have absolutely no knowledge in Java and/or the knowledge on how plugins work.
* You will have to understand that you have to have dedication on your server.
* You'd have to hire a dedicated and professional Staff Team.
* Advertisements will have the best effect in the Summer.

* Patience. Yes, patience. You will run into errors sometimes with the server, and to fix them, you have to be chill about it, do not be angry easily, it will not solve anything, everything will be fixed if you do it patiently and calmly.

* At least 3-5 custom plugins. If necessary, even more. As I said earlier, you will need to hire a paid developer that's willing to work hard for the server, in return this hard work should pay off for that developer, and you should pay them.
Common errors you should not do:

Advertisements: Do not blow up with advertisements, just go around 150-200$ per month for a start.
Website Hosting: You can get a XenForo plan 70$ yearly for a start, that means around 6$ per month.
Extras (BuyCraft, etc.): Around 10$ per month for good plans.
