Two of the easier Discord libraries are Discord.js (Node.js/JavaScript) and Discord.py (Python).
I recommend starting with one of those libraries and looking at the source code for various public bots on Github.

This is exactly how I learnt. Don’t directly take the code from the other bots, but improve them in your own way.
