Is i7-6700k-i7-7700k a must or would an equivalent xeon (server-grade) CPU be fine as well?

If the Xeon has a clock speed near the speeds of either the i7-6700k or i7-7700k, possibly. but mainly looking for them two or i7-4790k

If you're fine with a difference of about ~400Mhz (very little/minimal), I can probably offer you something: david#0101

Its very hard to find a mainstream datacentre with such a high clock speed for only a VPS, closest thing i can think of is OVH's secondary site which has past-gen dedicated servers for very cheap, might not be what your looking for but i suggest having a glance at least https://www.soyoustart.com/en/game-servers/

Yes, they are good machines and good prices but not everything is hardware, you are paying for a service that entails support, flexibility for your projects, and that OVH does not give it. Neither OVH are announcing it (Fast support 24/7) but it is something that must be taken into account.

Having that much customers and that much DC's and servers is hard, im sure they are trying their best.
Im using OVH for a while now, best hoster I could find for my usage.

I do not deny otherwise, OVH is good, its hardware, but there are other aspects to choose a hosting company, if you are an expert in managing a system, go ahead, OVH is a good choice, but given its low prices and the amount of costs Given their dozens of data centers to maintain, they have to reduce support costs or other things.

There are things that I do less than other companies if they provide how to have your own ASN, apply ACL rules to improve the mitigation of the ddos, technical support that does not help anything, only commercial issues and many other aspects that currently have Another provider would have liked them to have this at OVH.

I agree with the part of it.
Long story short, It should be good enough for average customer, great hardware with great DDoS protection.

You sure it's i7-7700? Cause your website says 1 vCore @ 3.00GHz?? their default base block is 3.6 and can boost up to 4.2 are you sure?
