Very nice to see someone offering i7 hosting, they are far better for MC, since it mostly uses one core. All we ever seem to see is Xeons which are good, but not as good as an i7 like these ones. Quite cheap for this as well. A lot hosts are around $2.5, and it is well worth an extra $0.5 for using an i7 over a Xeon. Glws :)

Due note, I'm a cisco certified network professional, I know how to handle linux, networking and all the tools involved in creating a successful minecraft server, efficiently. Not saying the other host providers do not, but I've seen a lot of people that get in over their heads by creating a hosting company, without knowing what they're doing.

In short Xeons=business applications
I Cores=consumer applications

Why do you expect most businesses to use consumer grade equipments?

because they have better performance under a gaming environment. In order to understand why I say this, I have provided you with two timings of very heavy modded servers. These are meant to provide the utmost load on CPUs in order to test how good they can handle.
E31270-v3 Processor: https://timings.aikar.co/?url=7511702
i7-4790 Processor: https://timings.aikar.co/?url=7511286
You can see the difference in TPS at the top. The i7-4790 consumer grade CPU, under the circumstances given, which are absolutely identical, in a single-thread based gaming server like minecraft, it handles better than the E31270-V3 business grade CPU.
Standard HDD's with software RAID-1 (further limiting the HDDs write) will be a huge limiting factor, mostly on a system with 64GB RAM (assuming you'll be utilizing 60%+ of it for Minecraft).

Good luck nonetheless..
That is true, but not quite. Even though the software raid has a slight bottleneck on the speed of reading and writing speeds, it is what you're getting at this price, without going into further improvements, like hardware RAID. It can always be set up with 2 individual harddrives without raid-1, but that doesn't keep your data mirrored in case of hardware failure, so I'd rather be safe and have my customer's data there, than make excuses and tell them they've lost everything. If you're looking for more, you can use a certain part of the RAM you rent as a ram-disk, for storage, or pay more and get SSDs on the machine.

This is what I offer, this is what I have for this price. If you are looking for more than this, pay the extra and get what you need. I'm strictly interested in renting this machine out, and then whoever needs different specs, they can be modified.

Please stop bashing at my thread and making a fuss about what I don't offer, because this is not the purpose of this thread. I understand that people like bashing eachother because there is a competition here, but I'm not here for that. I'm just looking to get some interested customers in renting what I have to offer. Simple :)

Thanks.

It the single threading that give you a slight performance boost. As MikeA pointed out, the HDDs will "burn up" before the CPU get "hammered down" to warrant the "raw power" that a I7 6700k "pumps out".

It like having an "Jet engine" (I7 6700k) but having a car's engine gas pump (the HDDs' IOPS) attached to it. Good luck getting a "jet" off the "ground" with that.

Most hosts don't have even a remotely self qualified individual dealing with their networks, so you definitely have your credentials here. I'm RedHat and Cisco certified, personally, I think certifications really do make a difference. I'd want my data in hands of someone I know knows what to do.

Best of luck here bud.

I salute you. Wish people would understand this thread is about selling a product, not about who has the best product, nor about which lego piece goes where. Thank you for the good thoughts :)

MikeA: For $3/GB it's a pretty damn good price, a good CPU and you're dealing with a qualified individual 1-1, the fact that it's not branded is better for smaller startup servers to get started up with the full support of Myiume. I've always said the smaller the company the more they need your customs, I have no doubt Myiume understands fundamental business and will provide his customers a quality experience.

I do have an unrelated question though, why do you always criticise everything? It's really negative and then you advertise ExtraVM on the same site. Some of your posts also come off as quite rude and slanderous. It's really not a good image being a key representative of your business (or, what I believe is your business). Might want to rethink your approach if you just want to help people out.

People are "mad" because you're selling a unstandardized hardware configuration. A HIGH END CPU does not really mix with a LOW END storage device.

Normally I would wonder too but MikeA has his points of that HDD array not being viable for the CPU attached to it.

His point is correct generally speaking, but price considerate he's offering a pretty good service here. It's not 'perfect', nearly every host's configuration could be better, nothing is perfect, but it's definitely a take in comparison to its price.

you see, those hard drives are not actually what you might consider low end. They are paired 7200 RPM 2TB HDDs. Even though it is true, the raid 1 provides a bit of CPU overhead due to writing to two devices at once, the writing speed is very slightly affected and the reading speed is actually greatly improved from a one hdd setup.

Do you understand the fundamentals of hard drives? Packing a dozen medium size (15-50 players) Minecraft servers on standard disks will cause problems, there's a reason why no common Minecraft hosts offer standard HDD hosting anymore, or if they do it's extremely cheap. SSDs are very cheap now, and you can buy known brand 512GB ones on sale for under $125 if you know where to look.

I didn't mean to bash or make people cry and get upset, the unusual configuration just struck me odd.

And please, don't question my posting etiquette, my clients are extremely happy with the service I provide and it grows every month.

They are getting cheaper but I HIGHLY doubt a <$125 512GB SSD is going to goes the "miles". If they were REALLY that cheap why don't I see them reflected in dedicated providers pricing? A 512GB SSD is still going to set you back on ~$40/month on a dedicated rental bill at best.
