Mine would probably be "X", just cause it works pretty well as a stand alone letter. Just add X to something to make it new. Look at the Titan X, for example.
My second one would probably be "Z", for Zero. IMO, it's better than having the number "0". Why? Cause if you name was "0", people would call you "Zero" anyway and probably call you "Z" for short. Heck, why not just go straight to it?
Third one would be "0", cause Zero is a pretty awesome name an having the number would shorten the world to 1 letter.
Fourth? Probably "I", just to refer to myself. It IS a word, after all.

But as far as OG names go in general, I feel that names such as "X" or "_" would be the most valuable, simply because of the coolness factor. I mean think about it, the name "_" would give off a sense of mystery/anonymity, and the name "X" has a very clean appearance, but also has a sense of mystery.
(You could make jokes about being "Mr. X")
But if you're considering numbers, I feel like "7" and "1" would be popular, simply because they have a little bit of meaning. With the name "7" you could constantly make references to your luck when participating in pvp/parkour. With the name "1" you could do the whole thing with I'm number one! as well as claiming that you're the best/first.
I suppose "A" may have a little bit of value by that standard, as you could say that you are the Alpha, or that you are where all things begin.
Although over-all, I think I would rather stick with my name. It has always gotten great reactions, and is amazing for making puns/context jokes.

One other thing I forgot to mention, X is the roman numeral for 10, and the highest minecraft enchantment that is displayed with roman numerals.
