Basically if you snipe a nice name and go on a server or have your twitter listed, people will say things like "I was so close!" "Just 1 second off" and "You took my name!" When in reality they were nowhere near with their handsnipe attempt.

On an account you believe will get the snipe, add things like this:

Name: Snap

Name: Slash

I even got this hilarious DM on twitter:

Name Sniping is kinda unfair but I use it so I'm not complaining ;p.

lol, I told that to Marc_IRL around November last year when mcsniper.com went down and he actually spoke to the web team and they said that they don't feel it's needed

ye, it's impossible to counter it unless they enforce it and shut the snipers down.

Unlike minecraft servers where they can just blacklist you, it's not that easy to shut down a sniper / website.
