You're nearly guaranteed a decent-paying job if you do well in school, which is polar opposite to creating a business, which is extremely risky.
What's your major?
It is slightly risky, but you can easily do an ecommerence/importing or marketing business. Just import products cheap, buy fb ads or market anywhere else, and then sell the products for 5x more. As long as you have validated your idea so that the market is interested and you have experience in digital marketing, it can take $1,000 and a month time to start up the business.I can't speak from experience, but what I can say (after reading a lot of Quora) is that it's a high-risk high-reward deal. There's a 5% chance a startup will succeed, and that just means it's not going bankrupt, not racking in tons of profit.
Also, pm_dragon is wrong. School isn't "wasting" your life, it might not be the most profitable route, but school is a safety net. If you're not the type of guy who wants to live in poverty for a couple years working on a business and after countless nights of stress and countless cups of caffeinated drinks, then attend school. You're nearly guaranteed a decent-paying job if you do well in school, which is polar opposite to creating a business, which is extremely risky.
Ah, I'm going for computer engineering as well. I want to start a programming business once I've gotten my major and go from there. But I want to start at a job before I create my own business to see how to the economy is doing in that part of the community. From there I'll go different ways depending on what's happening, at least that's what I plan!

Starting a business is not nearly as easy as it sounds. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I can assure you that. 200K in profits? I've got a grandfather with a mid-sized company that produces tent-trailers. His designs hold numerous records (such as fastest set-up tenttrailer - 28 seconds), but as far as I know he doesn't exceed that amount by much (maybe doubles it in good periods), despite a lifetime of growing the company and pretty impressive success.Or.... just don't go to college and start up a business. While all your friends wasted 4 years of their life and have $150k in debt, you have $200k in profits.
