Hello fellow MCM users,

I have recently been seing an issue in the community and that is reputation; The nice green numbers under someones name. I never knew it could mean so much to people, I have been on this site for three whole months and have seen reputation being used as something to measure someone's honesty and or trustworthiness. In my opinion this is very unfair. I mean i get it if someone is brand new to the site you can exactly trust them. But the reason you cant trust them is because they dont have many vouches not because they have no rep!

I have been denied of getting free services in return for a vouch because of my low reputation level. Although I have a pretty decent amount of vouches! For example someone would be offering vouch copies to people who have 200+ rep... Why not 20 vouches or something along those lines.

One more reason people should not give a fuck about rep is because look at Juhred. He had over 2000 reputation but then scammed someone for $500.

So here is my goal for this community. Dont judge someone by there rep it is just BS in general. Try to judge people by vouches or something like that. Something that could help is make an imgur.com album of all of you vouches. That can show people that you are a bit more trustworthy. But still vouches also should not matter as much either.

Just judge people becasue of who they are not because of numbers on the screen.

People can offer vouch copies to whoever they want. Ratings = Ratings. Rep = amount of vouches you have recieved. People consider ratings = rep? I don't know why. The whole point of this thread was because you didn't get a free server and someone with 600 + ratings did.

Not the whole point... I have been seing it everywhere. That is just 1 example.

yeah, I agree with you that the ratings system is (oh i'm so sorry) overrated. I've only been really active on here for a few months, yet I've already gathered plenty of ratings.

How to stop it? try making a "MCmarket etiquette" thread or something similar, which contains the actual meaning of stuff like ratings and vouches, as well as ways to behave on the market part of the forums in general .
So stuff like saying "I saw this somewhere else" without proof, advertising your own selling thread in someone's service offering thread (seen this a couple of times now) and similar things that make the site seem more like a hive of moneyguzzling honeybees. (Not aimed at any specific users here, its just a thing I've seen happen in several sections now. Newer members behaving like fools etc).

Then spread it. If even half of the people read it, you have a chance that it will slowly begin to spread.

That's pretty much all you can do short of taking over the website and changing its rules and systems.

Well, it's the seller's problem in this case. Best thing is for staff to either:
1) Make a list that shows vouches under one's name.
2) Promote showing of ratings is not rep

I don't get why people see others by "rep" or "ratings". Really, anyone can scam, even if they are well-known. And well, it sucks, but the dealing on this site is pretty much community-ran with the little help from staff, and its shady as hell.
