This has been on my mind for quite some time now and I figured this would be a great place to vent. If you go to public school (like me) you know that you are taught some core subjects, throw in an elective, lunch and that's pretty much your school day. Teachers always tell us anything is possible, but is that what they're teaching us? No, in school you are taught to depend on teachers for information, depend on you're academics for a good career, etc. Every club at my school that isn't a sport revolves around some form of charity ranging from baking cookies for the poor, to making prom dresses for girls who can't afford them. You want to know what is missing, independent thinking. Schools don't teach you how to make money by making your own business, they don't encourage you to go out and explore. Their goal is to make you slaves of the federal government and turn you into a democrat. Everyone who participates in this forum is one more person that adds to a better world. We are all here dealing with money, people, a community, and learning while doing it. All the skills we learn here is something that can only be taught through experience. Even if you own a small server, or configure a plugin for a set fee we are learning so much about how real business works. It's a shame schools don't encourage the spirit we all posses. It's a shame the majority of my peers will grow up to worship the government. However, I have faith. I mean look at Mick . This kid is 14 fucking years old and made a website. Sure, it's Xenforo. Sure, it's not fully custom coded. But I'm sure he had to invest money on marketing, devote a fuckload of time and have a true passion for what he was doing. Look where it is now. If it weren't for him I wouldn't be speaking to you right now. This goes to show anything is possible, but you need to think for yourself. I plan on starting a club at my school where I teach students how to setup servers, make money and other useful skills they'll never learn otherwise. I'm passionate about the idea of thinking for yourself because so many people don't. We are the future, and we will all make the best of it.

I can't agree more. I have learned so much about business, economics, customer support etc.. from my internet life.. things that school can not recreate.

I'm in a selective public school so that doesn't really apply to me so much.

Public school kids --- Highly recommend looking into some form of dual-credit schooling where you can go to a University early instead of finishing HS. It's been so much better for me and University classes are designed to help your thinking and exploration, top kek.
