I have a domain but do I need to get a LLC LTD INC CORP or anything like that to properly own that name, or is it just for big companies.

There are two types of trademarks. Registered trademarks and unregistered trademarks.
The key with trademarks is proving that you have rights over the name, therefore unregistered trademarks which are used by many large businesses.
One way to prove you had rights to a certain name before anyone else is by incorporating a company with that exact name. You can also prove it by other ways, registering a domain is one way, you can also send yourself a business plan via recorded delivery and not open the envelope.
The alternative is trademark registration, which is less subjective. It's expensive and you'd really need international trademark registration, which is even more expensive. If this is just for a server or something, I'd go with one of the above options. The date of you having the name is the most important aspect.
