Inquiring about a hosting idea

Hi MC-Market

I really don't feel like writing a huge post for this since this will be pretty straight forward.
Long story short, I've got a few high-grade dedicated servers that are just lying around and I've got some money that I'd like to give back to the community in some way or another.
Would it be a good idea to create a hosting "site" for Minecraft for absolutely no money that actually provides great specifications?

I'd appreciate if you took the time to respond and tell me if you feel like I should do it or not.
Obviously no client information will be requested / saved just to keep everything GDPR compliant.

EDIT: More thoughts and opinions are still welcome.

Okay, so I'm going to get down to the real stuff when it comes to hosting. The market is very saturated right now, budget hosts are everywhere and they make every other host less appealing due to their low pricing. When it comes to free hosting sites, you have to have a barrier. Some way to keep too many servers from being made so that it wont overload your system. I personally like the idea of a free hosting company, with user funded, and non-invasive advertisements to make money. To put it simply, allow people to pay money directly to you to have their server banner, logo, etc in a side advertisement bar on your panel to allow them to get their server more players and to get you specifically a profit so you can continue to maintain your company and not go down overnight. This would require you to either make your own panel, or make some minor modifications to the panel you decide to use. One thing you have to remember is that if you yourself are not capable of doing system administration, back-end development, and other things along those lines you're going to have a very difficult time starting up a hosting company for free. It will also be quite risky if you don't know what you're doing during your setup. It's a great idea and could potentially assist many members in the community but you would have to re-envision the way hosting companies already are and revise yours to fit the criteria and still come out without losing you money.

Haha I was waiting for something like this. I appreciate the response but I've got more experience in this business than most of the people on this forum probably, not to come over as cocky obviously, it's just that I've worked with many large companies before that specialize in server management and I do have a degree in coding both in JS, C#, Java and you know, website stuff (html, css, etc..). I do like the idea of eventually requesting some money for extra features, but the point isn't money. I've got a "lot" of it to share to be honest, again not trying to come over as cocky. Creating a panel, doing system administration, managing the systems and providing maintenance won't be an issue for me, I just remember the time where I used to play Minecraft servers and I always wanted to make one myself. The cost used to be pretty high for me back in 2015 so I decided not to. The point is that I want to help all the small users such as me back in the days, and help them by providing them something absolutely for free without any limitations. Again thanks for the well written answer.

Yeah, but its an opportunity for you to in turn make money in order to keep the company up for the people you're trying to assist

I think it is a pretty good idea and would love to help you with anything. The idea of a quality host for cheep / free pricing is great and I really want to see this succeed.

Also I like the idea of ads just because ultimately it will extend the life of the host.

Yup sounds good, but I don't want to spam it with ads, since that just makes it loose "ALL" it's credibility.

I do think it's a good idea, but like I said if you offer user provided advertisements it will allow you to prolong the life of the host and give even more back.

Do it like mc-market, allow the users to pay for 3-4 slot ads on the side bar.
