Installing Java 8 JDK on Unbuntu (HELP)

I've been trying to install Java 8 JDK on unbuntu for an age now. The current repository command does not work (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java) as it bypasses java 8 and brings up java 9 install which I don't want. I have tried downloading the file and extracting it here and manually installing it but nothing seems it work.
I was just wondering anyone got any ideas?
