Most of the ratings we have are meaningless variations of the same basic reactions...

I'd like to suggest a rating that actually means something.
A "Messaged" rating.

This would be a positive rating because it shows that what you said inspired a positive reaction from the person who rated it. That reaction being to message the poster.

Often people say things that I'd like to discuss with them further, but not in the thread; as it might have nothing to do with the topic at hand and would distract from the main post.
Other times, I simple don't want to clutter the thread.
I'd like to be able to indicate that I have read, acknowledged, and intend to discuss the topic with them.

Other than that, this would be a great way to make visible the amount of clients your service thread, for example, is bringing you.

Giving, yet another opportunity, to show that your thread is popular, even if the person doesn't come back and vouch.

As for the icon, a simple envelope would do.

Naa,
I believe there are too many ratings as is,
I think having the basics are already good enough, and you could just say a like as messaged

Would be nice, but I'm not sure if the Developers can add new ratings to the XenForo Plugin.

Remove the pointless ratings then.

Pretty sure quoting their posts saying Messaged is enough.
This is exactly what I want to avoid; as it clutters up thread; and can easily be replaced by a rating.

Tis very simple.

lol why do you need to tell someone you messaged them? they get a notification from it. there's no reason for a rating or for pointless replies saying "messaged"

The up thread button was suppose to avoid posting "bump" 20 times cluttering the thread, but people still do it. 99% sure people are going to still quote you and tell you they messaged you even if you add a rating.

You know, Mick should just make an actual button that says "Vouch" That way, you can get rid of ratings and instead of "Ratings: +236" you can input "Vouches: 36" The thing is you can click the vouch button and it will take you to a special personalized page (just like a profile page but another tab) and it shows every single vouch because when you hit the "Vouch" button, it requires text asking WHY you vouch for this person. Agree? Justis

-eyetwitch- Um... XD
I don't know what you're trying to say...
But a review/feedback system is already being developed.

This would be nice but when you vouch for a person, you are going out of the way for that person because they did something good for you. If it turned into a button, random people could "vouch" by clicking a button, even if the user did absolutely nothing for them. It would replace the rating system but it would mean the exact same thing as ratings. Nothing would change.

How much for the account "Spoon"?

PM me

*gives message rating*

very inspired, much positive.

I think this rating is pointless really.
In the end I've seen rating suggestions that I'd personally love to see accepted before this.
This rating would hopefully reduce the "PM me" messages... So there would be none of those to rate.
I don't understand people sometimes. .-.
Why does the other person have to pm you?
So lazy...

I like the idea, but I don't think it would really work that well.

I don't really think it's necessary. The original poster already gets a notification that you've messaged them.
