Hey guys, been a minute but I am here to post a suggestion regarding the site and what it has become over the last few months. Due to Mojang getting involved in the process of not allowing the sale of accounts and etc, the site is in an odd middle ground a feel like. Almost as if it is in limbo of what it wants to be/needs to be. So I am here to suggest that we add sections to make this a proper minecraft forum since we no longer can sell accounts and things along those lines. This may be looked at as a site revamp in a way, but really its more of an adaptation to the current site.

Of course you could still offer services, sell things such as builds, plugins, etc, but I feel we are missing a large margin of users that say, the official Minecraft forum has, that we as a community could very well have and grow. This would include sections to showcase user created:

-Mods
-Resource Packs
-Servers
-3rd Party created programs (such as a model creator)
-Builds (Semi-done)
-More

Essentially, this would make MC-Market a place for not only people to show their projects and advertise them to other players, but create and community around that. Minecraft as a game is still growing and will continue to grow, and this would allow this site to take the next step in growing as far as a userbase of creators. Currently it is greatly lacking in these departments.

For example I am the creator of a resource pack known as "Dramatic Skys" it is one of the top most downloaded texture packs of all time on Curse and in general with 1.4 million downloads. I would love to share it here to a new audience to get more growth on it as a project and as me, the creator. Though how the site is now, there is no way of doing so. I also know this is the case for many mod creators as well. This would not only allow the website to grow (Post wise and member wise), the users to grow and gain potential business opportunities, but help the community all around.

I personally do not see any "downsides" to this suggestion, like I have stated it will:
-Grow userbase
-Grow projects and future projects related to minecraft
-Bring business opportunities to big and small creators

To sum things up shortly, add sections to showcase Minecraft based projects.

If you have any suggestions to add to this, please state so below. Same goes for any questions regarding this as an idea or concept.

Thank you.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I state rather clearly why, not sure why you would post just "why" as if you did not even read the thread. This is for the betterment of the site and its potential to exist and continuing to be a relevant website for the future.

I think a general shift towards services and more unique products vs account selling would be beneficial, imo there's enough of a community established that we could focus on a more general gaming market outside of trying to go for specifically Minecraft at this point.

This could literally just be a forum that functions as fivver for teens, it would work fine with what we already have.

I personally do not think a "general" forums approach will work as the userbase already is Minecraft and has been for a long time. Whether that be for accounts (when it was allowed) or builds, plugins, etc.

Well, there's Web Design & Development, Other Development, Graphics & Media, & Advertising. Together they make up a fairly large portion of the forum that's just derivative of Minecraft related services, I think the forum has outgrown the need to specialize in a certain game.

imo we could pretty much keep the current subforum sections and just rebrand the site and it would work better. I suppose it's just a preference of focusing on the business portion vs the Minecraft discussion portion.

MCM is known as MCM at this point, a rebrand more than likely would not go well. I have seen other sites like this do that in the past and they all ended up dying, this was a few years ago however so results may vary of course. Also, I am not saying to get rid of the current sub forums, I am just saying to add more. Adding more will bring in more people essentially. I know a lot of creators from the official Minecraft Forum who would eat it up because they cant really "monetize" their content there, while here, they could. Its about keeping this site that I hold dear to me alive and the betterment of it. I do understand where you're coming from I just do not agree to be completely honest.

Personally think one sub forum for showing stuff of would be cool and beneficial, multiple of them would be too much. Also I'm not sure this would help grow the site much, but would be cool to have regardless.

Adding new forums to the site doesn't immediately lead to more activity or people coming to our site, especially if they're within the discussion category. There are more server owners on MCM than any other group, and adding the Server Showcase subforum of the site a few months ago has only resulted in 93 threads created (12 in the past month). Adding in 5+ new subforums all about showcasing your products and services would simply just be 5 new dead subforums that never get looked at or used.

If you would like to showcase any of your projects on the site then the appropriate forum to do so would be in General Discussion.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
