Introducing the end of GLWS and Necro-ing

When a user is replying to an old thread or posting low quality content, a box pops up underneath that warns the user of doing so.

could work, I guess. If it's a verified plugin I see no reason why it wouldn't be a good idea, it would probably decrease the LQ posting and necroposting by half, since thats the people that may or may not be aware of the rules.
The other half would probably ignore it.

I think getting it down to half would be just as good honestly, it's a growing problem that needs some attention.

Literally every thread I see there's atleast 1 comment saying "Hot fucking account GLWS" or something like "Vouch for this man" and should be stopped asap

We already lock threads automatically that are more than 2 months(I think?) old, but I guess that this addon would be a better choice for that.

The problem with restricting word counts like this is that it would make it impossible for people to realistically bid on items.

It is pretty common for people to just type "bid 50" on things and stuff, so we would have to change our bidding system to do this probably.

I did plan for us to do something like that but it would have to be custom developed and I'd rather work on our Buisness Accounts system first.

So if your message was below like 30 characters or something and it included 'GLWS' or '+1' it wouldn't post.

It doesn't restrict them, it just opens up a box that asks if you really want to post or not:

And IIRC, you can restrict it to certain forums only.

By bumping suggestions you move them to the bottom of my queue to review them. I go over suggestions in the order of last responded to so I can be sure that the ones I am responding to already have been fully discussed. If you want to get more input that's fine though.

I've been looking into this again more recently and I'm not too sure why we've not implemented this sooner, but I do think that this is a better solution for our creators than our current method of simply locking threads older than 2 months and requiring the original poster or staff member unlock it again. There is an off-the-shelf solution for this available from Xon for XF2 that looks like it'll fit our needs perfectly, so once we're on XF2 we'll switch over to this. I'll keep this pending until we properly implement this, but it has been planned and will be happening during the migration.

To give an update on this suggestion, we've already implemented it into our XenForo 2 setup for the site so it'll be live when the new MCM is released in a few weeks!

I'll be sure to move this to accepted once we're on XF2. Thanks for the suggestion.
