Introduction to Business Project [International Business Learning Guide for China]

International Cultures

Through our last unit we have discovered just how important understanding cultural differences is to conducting business overseas. Our next project will consist of gathering information and then presenting the information in a way that is not only artistically creative but informative. In an attempt to better understand the ongoing business practices for different countries we will be creating “Business Learning Guides” to better understand and visually see the differences in conducting business in other countries.

The Research
In order to better learn how to conduct business in another country you need to better inform yourself on the culture and practices of that country. Your research should include:

A: General information
A brief description of the country’s population, language, and religion. You will also want to include the currency and exchange rate. What does a normal workweek consist of? (Hours and Days they work) At what age do they start working at what age do they retire?

B: Appearance
Highlight the business etiquette do’s and don’t involving Dress, Clothing

C: Behavior
Highlights business etiquette do's and don'ts involving Dining, Gift-giving, Meetings, Customs, Protocol, Negotiation, Punctuality and General behavioral guidelines.

D: Communication
Highlights business etiquette do's and don'ts involving Greetings, Introductions, body language, gestures, and Conversational guidelines.

E: Fun Facts
Special or unique notes, thoughts, or comments about the country researched. Things that may not fit directly in a category however add a little bit of flavor to the country.

WEBSITE:
You are to create a “Business Learning Guides” for someone who would be interested in doing business in the country you researched. Your learning guide should include your research on Appearance, Behavior, Communication, and the other focusing on general information and Fun Facts you have found in your research. You may add pictures to help illustrate your findings. Your guide should be interesting and fun for those who are viewing your learning guide.

Your learning guide can be anything you want including but not limited to posters, brochures, a Prezi presentations or a website. Remember you are creating a resource that is to be used as an aid to someone interested in learning about your country. Take whatever
creative freedoms you want but keep it factual. I wasn’t going to leave you on your own so try these keywords: International Business, Business Etiquette, Manners, Cultures, Customs, Greetings and Salutations.
