They don't have to put that much work... They have the money thus they can pay the people. And if they have better marketing skills, some things can even be cheaper.
My recommendation to not loan any money to users in that section was from a purely economic standpoint. In the actual world, a return over 20% in a few months time is unheard of. It's your own prerogative to loan money to whomever you want, however there is no sense of security in these loans, and the money earned is most likely illegal, as they are not a business, nor a non-profit but are accepting "Donations". I would be willing to bet that 90% of servers and their owners don't file any of their earnings to the IRS on a Schedule C. But, hey, if giving money to kids, and expecting unrealistic interest rates with 0 security on the loan, and expecting to get paid back with money earned illegally is benefiting the community, then go right ahead.
