Hello, I am considering renting a .org slot for 3 days straight.
I would like to know (from someone with experience of renting a slot) if you think it is worth it. Would it give my server a permanent player-base? How many joins do you we would get?
And would the slot payoff? Let me know if you think it's worth it. :)

Slots do very well at bringing in a large amount of players in a very short time. Whatever your average player count is now, add 60-120 players to that.

However,

really, whether or not the players stay, is more so dependent on the quality of your server. Bad quality simply equals a high turn around rate. Have a good server, you'll get a lot of stayers.
Thanks for your opinion. I believe my server is unique. :)

Does anyone know how fast it would pay off? Let's say I spent $2,000 for a 3 day slot. Would it pay off, and is it worth it?

4 hours total on a generic factions server got me 0 players. :p

So ya, your server has to be good and unique
tbh, it brought about 10 - 15 returning players.

Math time!
(I dislike maths, correct me if I have any wrong calculations)

So you're being offered 72 hours of .org for $2000.

$2000 / 72 would give ya 27.7, hence the person who's selling the slot is selling it for $27.7 per hour to you.
In my opinion, that's not a bad deal.

Its not a bad deal, but it isn't a good one. I would not expect it to get you very many players between Midnight, and 8am, so that's 8hrs a day that American players are asleep, and hopefully... UK players are seeing it.

Typically when somebody is renting out a slot for other people for example, they will sell every hour of the day except for the early morning hours. So I don't think they get nearly as many players during that time.

I personally would say a slot is more like $1,300 for 3 days, because you'll have a lot of inactive time during the night that you're basically just throwing money away during.

Let's say you wanted slot #1, they bought it for $5,797
It lasts for 2 weeks.
$5,797 / 14 = $414 /Day

Now if you paid to rent a slot for a few days...
$2,000 / 3 = $666 /Day

So you'd be paying $240 MORE, per day, than the person who originally bought it.
(And if you're not renting from the #1 slot, then this price is even higher. Slot's 3,4,5 all went for $1K less.)

Here's what I would do, and you don't have to do it, only a suggestion.
I would say 72 straight hrs for $1,600 to bring that down to cut your losses a little. May need to negotiate with seller.
Or...
$2,000 for 4 days, from 8am to Midnight.
They way they can put their own server back in during the night, or somebody else's.
Do you think we would generate the money back within a month?

Potentially, I really cannot answer that accurately, as your Buycraft prices may be high / low, you could be having a sale, your server quality still comes into play, so many factors that cannot be guessed.
Do you think 2 videos for $2000 from a youtuber that averages 500k views will outperform the slot? Do you think we won't get any new joins after the slot is over?
