Is Enjin actually that bad?

Now from my experience, I have yet to own a premium Enjin server, all I really here are negatives. Now from the websites I have run, which we're personal domains, web hosting company, and premium design layout. Ignoring Xenforo for a moment, is the starting price of $8 a month really all that bad for an Enjin website? I'm just curious to know if something like that would be worthwhile to have when making a new server instead of a personal web-hosted one.

Quick note: Yes I understand Xenforo would be the best option, but I'd rather not spend the $160 for the minimum rights just to use it, let alone the extra money it takes to get more modifications and rights to the website.

Enjin is pretty bad, but it’s not a terrible start. FaithfulMC used enjin for quite a few maps before making enough profit and switching over to Xenforo. So, it’s a good start but in the long run if you can afford Xenforo, definitely go for it. But until then, enjin is a decent alternative.

I personally use enjin and you get what you pay for. Default themes are horrid, signing up is really confusing for newer users and you can get a max of 3 servers linked to the donation store at one time. However, the service is cheaper overall than the cheapest paid plan on tebex/buycraft.

MinePlex also used it for ages before swapping and it worked for them in their peak. If they continued to update it, I have no doubt it would be really good but it seems nothing major gets done with it.

If you want just a storefront, tebex. If you need everything, enjin will work if you do not have more than 3 servers.

There is a new, free forums software being created called NamelessMC (Linked Below). It's not as good as XenForo, but it is an order of magnitude better than Enjin. Feel free to check them out. Also, there are addons for seamless integration into donation services; such as, Buycraft.

Kind Regards,

Note: I am no way associated with NamelessMC; just a good software I think you should take a look at.

Enjin or NamelessMC for startups, sure. However, who the fuck uses forums much these days, like back in the day they were active asf, now, like it's not worth having (for most servers)

You're honestly better off with just a simple one-page portal like this:
https://www.mc-market.org/resources/989/ (not my resource, just randomly found it)

Just something to link to Voting, Donations, Discord (I recommend Discord instead of hosting a forum), and that's about it. Maybe a rules page.

You'd rather have the players actually on the server playing the game than getting lost in a maze of web pages.
Portal + Discord + Buycraft is really all you need. Very low overhead, low expenses, simplicity.
