I havent played factions since like 2016. I was wondering if its still a popular gamemode, and if its still a smart investment in potentially making a server out of?

Factions has fallen off;

Right now the reason it's still alive is for the payouts on weekly basis; it's a lot more fast paced then it was back then.

To me it's not really worth the time anymore, it's a lot more toxic then it was back in the 16 days.
Unless you wanna do payouts 5man and 3 day maps then go for it and yes it’s way more toxic which turns away newer players from playing

It's dead, but it still makes money and more than ever if that's your goal. Factions servers now last as short as 3 days but have up to $1,000 payouts, I'd recommend getting someone with experience to help you though.

Factions have nearly 100% fallen off, unless you’re thinking of having different concepts involved which people haven’t seen before then attracting players is next to impossible (apart from if you’re offering large payouts) which would bring toxic players / bots / advertisers anyway.

SkyBlock and Prison looks to be the move nowadays.

Factions is seen as pretty boring to the usual player in my opinion. I have been waiting to see an OG faction server release though.. :unsure:
I have one, the most common players that come on are toxic comp players that don’t like the concept of Og while some players stay but not enough to maintain a server compition

It is currently not as popular as it used to be, but with innovation it can yield a lot of $.

To put it simply, no. Factions has failed to adapt to the evolving environment of Minecraft, therefore, has fallen off in popularity.

I have yet to see someone try to successfully bring back the old feel of casual OG factions and honestly don't think it would ever be like it used to. For me personally the evolved factions style is just way too over complicated and confusing for me and not even enjoyable its just a competition to getting money at least that's how I see it.

That is a 100% true, i do own a OG faction server and most of the players are older comp players that don't want to play without printer or op cannons etc 3-day maps

One of the biggest issues out there is having a server jar that is optimized for cannoning at a high mc version that cost too much to make and very little developers out there know how to do it.

I'd imagine there's still possible success with factions but it's quite dead in comparison to its prime days.

Factions have always been an important part of this game. I like to play in this mode because it can find a lot of interesting chips that can not be found in other modes. I think an important aspect can be labeled such services that offer trade rust skins. This is a very interesting in-game mode, especially in factions, because they need to use more powerful and improved skins to win. I am able to do this more often than without the use of such opportunities. I'm sure factions have everything I need to win every game.
