A ton of positive and negative arguments have been made about Friends and Family which is why it's been used throughout MC-Market and every other forum ever since PayPal first became mainstream. Initially Friends and Family seems like the best option, but I'm doing some research which I think will help out all of you as well as myself.
What's good about Friends and Family? The most common response is that it reduces chargeback risk compared to G&S.
This is actually completely wrong. The belief that Friends and Family payments are "unchargebackable" is a worrying factor for both the buyer and seller. Buyers can be scammed more easily, and so can sellers if the buyers take the correct precautions. If buyers use a VPN when buying goods, or have a story laid out and aren't afraid to call PayPal, chances are they'll get their money back easily, leaving the seller at a loss of their original transaction money, not to mention the chargeback fee which is usually about $20 extra.
What's good about Goods and Services? People rarely give any positive responses about Goods and Services, but here's what I'd say:
Since virtual goods are now eligible for both buyer and seller protection, all transactions on MC-Market are now covered. As long as you have evidence that the other user was scamming, you'll almost always win.
"But only almost?" I hear you say. While PayPal support is hardly flawless, you can believe me that from personal experience, 'almost' is a lot better than what is offered by the likes of Friends and Family.
One popular criticism about Goods and Services is how much more expensive it is to use than Friends and Family. With Goods and Services, you'll be charged $3.30 total fees for a $100 deal. Would you rather be charged $3.30, or potentially $120 if the seller/buyer has fraudulent intentions?
Additionally, F&F now has fees if you're sending international payments anyway. This fee is usually $1.25 USD for any payment between $1 and $100.
I'm not going to say G&S is better, that's just my opinion. I'm just presenting the facts - you decide.
