Is it Possible to make a Pvp server in 2020?

So, I made a similar thread, but I wanted to talk about something different.

Is it worth it to make a pvp server in minecraft's current climate? I keep hearing from people that you "Have" to make a survival server in this era of MC, but I'm not entirely sure I want to do that.

So, what should I do? I've been wanting to make a server for a while now. Just not sure if I can make the server I want because the current landscape.

Something new. Most gamemodes are the exact same with different skins. You'd need some new game mechanic that adds a new layer and it'd help to have a big pocket for advertising

i had an idea but it was really just a simple twist. Sadly I really don’t think enough people play pvp anymore
