Is it still possible in 2024 to start a successful Java server?

Back in the day I ran a few servers that I would consider moderately successful however as I've gotten older, I'm now almost 30 and I want to delve back into the hobby. Is this something that's still possible?

No, I don't want to get rich from this, honestly, I would be happy if I broke even to pay for hosting fees.

Is it still possible to start a server without thousands in advertising? Maybe 20-50 online at all times?

What are your thoughts?

What quantifies as a good plan? Most of the ways I've seen to market cost a good chunk of change.

I can speak from experience, There definitely is possibility but it is HARD! I think its much easier joining someone else's project than starting your own which is funny because I started my own... lol

It is possible but here are some factors that you will have to worry about
1.Gamemode
2.Stability of the machine where the server is hosted
3.Administration team
4.Server feature(most of the servers tend to use custom models)

Yes, it's possible. However, it will be difficult without a budget and connections. Connections are very important to get players to your server, along with the features you offer.
