Is it worth to make a faction servers ?
Like would you be able to grow as a server or would you be able to make a successful server where it does do well a certain amount?
I just want to know since im always thinking this and I want others opinion.

If you have experience, funds, etc

Factions is pretty saturated imo

Depends on what you consider "worth".

I've dropped over a thousand dollars over a two years into a small Pixelmon server that I'm still working on, with 200 quests, 500 NPCs with unique dialogue, 20 towns, etc. I don't expect to make back even a fraction of my investment.

However, as someone who 1. is passionate about Pokemon, 2. want to practice my game design and writing skills 3. would like to create an immersive game experience for the explorer / achiever player types 4. would like to recreate the casual, close-knit community feeling from early minecraft and most importantly 5. am not going into debt while making these investment which I have unfortunately seen some people do on this site, I'm finding the endeavor very worth it.

Consider your goals and how realistic they are. If you're aiming to match with the top servers with hundreds, thousands of players, do you have the advertising budget to match them -- that can cost up to tens of thousands of dollars a month. If you're aiming to have an "ALL CUSTOM SUPER NEW UNIQUE SERVER", can you realize your goals with public resources, or do you have the budget to fund custom development of plugins, resource packs and builds? If you're just aiming to have a big playerbase without "caring about the money", how do you plan to keep up with server and development costs?

But if you're aiming to just have fun / gain experience with it... then go for it; that's probably the safest bet and healthiest reason you could have to do anything in life tbh. ;p

Factions is a very hard area to get big in at the moment (similar to skyblock). There are so many factions server (Hardcore, Normal, OP), making it very hard for you to differentiate yourself from the rest. But, I believe, that with something like prisons, there are not many large servers (except for cosmic prisons - but they basically dominate every gamemode). It is also easy to monetise if done correctly and with the right youtuber(s) you can bring in a medium-large sized community. Prisons also promotes players constantly playing and grinding on your server (making the playercounts stay high for more hours throughout the day), it is also quite simple to make some changes to the playstyle of it to keep people interested.

If you are thinking about starting a prisons server (if you agree with what I have said), feel free to contact me and I would be more than happy to help you along the way. I don't need to be paid for this, I just want to see a good prisons server being made as they are all basically carbon copies of one another.

But when it comes down to it, what Annie said above is correct. It really is all down to what you enjoy/want, if you think making a server will be a fun experience for you, go for it. However, one last thing I will say is that you shouldn't come into the server running community with the only goal to make money. It will be reflected in the quality of the server and will discourage people from donating. If you want to grow a community you need to enjoy playing and developing the server. Only after the community comes and enjoys the experience, then they will start donating.

I wouldn't go for factions, try going something more unique, servers such as Pokefind or Wynncraft does this very well and has long lasting communities due to this. Good luck if you do decide it's worth your time.

Your server could do well if you spend enough time and effort on it.
Factions is a saturated game mode and there are multiple really good public factions servers already.
It will be hard to compete unless you're willing to spend thousands of dollars on advertisements and development.
