Hello.

So simple question. Is minecraft pvp dead?

I was thinking about making a factions/kitpvp server, but nowadays it seems that pvp isn't profitable, and everyone's just playing survival.

Thoughts?

Agreed haha. But pvp wise, is that community dead?
Its growing, just not fun anymore.

Gamemodes like Skyblock or Factions used to be fun once upon a time, nowadays
its just getting worse in terms of the community. It is profitable at some extent yes,
but IMO starting a survival server would be better as the community will be much more
friendly, at the end of the day its ur choice :)

pvp is not dead, but only the known servers get players for pvp. any new pvp servers just mostly fail nowadays.

Honestly if you want to make a server it needs to be unique not like every other server on minecraft, it's why these big servers are staying active and growing because they introduce new concepts and stuff weekly that makes players want to play even more.

Factions is waiting for a server that involves some ground breaking unique plugins that allow all sorts of pvp, raiding, and such. SaicoPvP remains popular because they're a very unique server.

I kind of noticed that survival seems to be the most popular gamemode right now. Im just sad since Ive been playing mc since 2012 and I feel the community just isnt the same

Its not, not even close.

Full of toxicity, like most games now.

Minecraft was supposed to be casual, idiots who take it too seriously have
ruined the meaning of Factions and a few other gamemodes, like most competitive games.

That's mainly because all the H1Z1, Fortnite, Apex, Rocket League kids are coming to Minecraft not understanding how the community works and they seem to love to spread toxicity.

What do you mean?
I mean creating a server no matter what it is, takes hard work and dedication.

Unless its an anarchy server which i do not approve of facepalm

I would say it depends on the idea and implementation of the idea. A "normal" game mode like SkyBlock, Factions, KitPvP, BedWars... already has its servers where players play. You need a so called niche where there is nothing to play yet, that's where players start to explore and play because there is finally something new in the MineCraft community, and you will grow fast because they tell their Friends and so on.

I speak from my own experience.

The problem is that we’re in an era of stagnation. There haven’t been that many new revolutionary gamemodes that have become staples throughout the community. Back in the day when we had Skyblock, hunger games, and prison created all within a short time frame there were endless new servers to play on. Plus it doesn’t help that 1.9 combat turned a lot of people off from playing Minecraft. The game itself though isn’t dying, a new generation of players have taken over.

I agree. I really don’t think that I can make a pvp type server anymore

Now, I don't see a problem if you make a nice 1.8.9 practice server. It would take a lot of work, but it would profit in the end. A factions practice server (e.g. practice raiding and cannoning) would be 100x better and a lot more unique. Those are my two cents, have a nice day.
I would really like to make like a kitpvp and factions server. However, I dont think there's still people who play those. Any ideas?
