Is the development and server owning business still alive. Is there still potential in the game to make money and build a community?

While game modes like Skyblock and Factions have died, BoxPVP and Genservers have taken over. They don't attract the same demographic, but you just got to go where the players are. Roughly every 5 years comes a new generation of players, who play different game modes and have different playstyle preferences than their predecessors. I bet someone will create a factions-like game mod in the coming years for newer versions, we just have to wait for the player base to evolve. I got my Minecraft account on December 26, 2011, for Christmas - almost 12 years ago. Since then I have graduated high school and got employed working a part-time salary. While I don't touch the game as much as did, I still hop on every once and a while. The same goes for many people like me, who either play on occasion or have abandoned their accounts entirely. Minecraft isn't dead and never will be. You and your friends just don't play any more.
