To anyone that is reading this please comment on what you think
I've been playing Minecraft servers for over 4 years, and I've noticed over the past 2 years that the Minecraft server player base is dying, like big time. Some of the big minecraft servers are lucky enough to have half of there players because of the player drop. Now I'm feeling that people who are trying to make there own server should stop before they blow all their money and time. Well for me, I'm gonna call it quits on minecraft for a little while, Please comment below what you think minecraft will be in the next two years, and why the minecraft community is leaving

Minecraft itself isn't dying, certain minecraft communities are dying.

For example hypixel, 50k players on DAILY... I doubt you wouldve seen that 2 years ago. Two years ago it was at least 15k - 20k max but since Minecraft's playerbase is split up over so many versions, and since servers cant maintain communties, communites are dying.

Don't forget about mineplex, where did those players go?
Most went to hypixel I assume.

Just because a server loss players does that mean they stopped playing Minecraft? I could play on mineplex daily then switch to hypixel. Mineplex has less players now, but arent I still playing Minecraft?

Yes that is very true, but some of the other minecraft players have aged, and now stop playing minecraft and moved up in the other games

Stop making these fucking threads, seriously.
No, minecraft playerbase is not dying, not by a long shot.
What IS happening is that the growth of the overall minecraft playerbase is decreasing, and a number of players are becoming less active.
Minecraft has passed it's prime (1.6-1.8), at least on PC, but it's going to be YEARS before we can say it's dying.

I mean, if you're 35, you're past your prime, (20's to early 30's), but you don't expect to die until you're in your 60's or 70's.[DOUBLEPOST=1502359763][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, sorry to say, but that poll is idiotic. Just because it won't be as popular as it was at its peak doesn't mean it will die in a hole. It's obvious from the structure of that excuse for a poll what your thoughts on the matter are, but others can't really express their opinion on it.

I don't understand why people think it's "dying". A game that's dying is a game that's losing interest and popularity immensely, this isn't the case for Minecraft. While online servers like MinePlex, one of the most recognised and known servers in the MC community mind I remind you, has lost many players over the years, there are other servers like Hypixel that now get 40k-60k players DAILY. And Hypixel was considered garbage back when MinePlex still reigned supreme in the server charts. And while old Minecraft players may grow out of the game and quit, there will always be new players that might enjoy the game just as much as the old players did.

I think what people mean is that Minecraft's Singleplayer mode is dying, which may or not be true, but I'd definitely say that Minecraft or Minecraft's community as a whole is not dying at all.[DOUBLEPOST=1502421591][/DOUBLEPOST]
Old minecraft players leave, new ones come in :)

Well said.

Its not dying. The community is evolving. As I've gotten older I no longer play servers with my friends on PC we all just have a survival world that we play on Xbox. As long as there are kids though Minecraft cannot die. Every time some kid thinks they're "too old" for Minecraft some 8 year starts playing.[DOUBLEPOST=1502421766][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'd be the only 14-year-old surrounded in 7-year-olds, all asking stupid questions.
Its all about perspective dude. My friends and I want to go but we're scared of all the 14 year olds asking stupid questions

I swear I've seen these threads posted every few months since I joined (mostly by people who are losing interest in the game themselves) and the game is still here with Hypixel more popular then ever. Most players get older, move on to a different game or quit altogether and the next wave of let's-play-watching younger children replace them. It's not like Microsoft paid $2.5bn to acquire Minecraft if it was ""dying"".
