so basically i have a full facs setup and a guy is going to host my server for a % of buycraft on a dedi. So do you think theres a way to just make sure he's not gonna change the password or smth and just keep the server?

You need collateral. You need something that is important to him that you can do something to if he decides to steal it. Basically some way to screw him over if he screws you over. If you don't trust him, don't do business with him.

ya maybe like a contract or something idk or pay someone else to make it so that you have a key and only you could change the pass but sadly if you lose it that's a yikes

Pretty much the only way is a contract. Cause even if you have the account he can still just get the files via root login on the dedi it self. Because hes probably going to give you just an account on a panel he has installed like pterodactyl.

Yes, contracts, legal documents, lawyers. That's the safest way.

If you’re going to do anything legal I’d recommend first either taking screenshots of him making promises of partnering up since he wants a percentage or recording him saying all that sonic he ever tries to screw you over or deny that he never said that you have audio evidence that he did indeed say that or if you want even more proof tell him to get a webcam point at his face and make him say the promise and record he then can’t deny that he didn’t scam you

don't give non-reputable members access to server files in general

But many members on MC-Market are under 18 and don't meet the requirements to create a legal-binding contract.

If they do somehow create and agree to a contract they can still be just as easily screwed over since no law enforcement agency is going to take action over a Minecraft server.
Yea so pretty much either be 18+ and able to sign a contract or you cant do anything XD Your right.

Best way is to sign an NDA with him. Or, if he scams you and has an MCM account, make a scam report. Cheers. Good luck
