Maybe some of you have heard of the situation in Lebanon - my country - and it’s really horrible and I just would like do something that benefits people living here.
Lebanon has been under crisis for almost 4 years now and the country’s economy has been going down hill ever since.
Our currency went down facing the USD and everything is becoming worse everyday.
People from around the world might think this change benefits Lebanon but all it does is making it worse as the Lebanese lira now is worth $1 = 29,500 L.L in the lebanese “black markets”; however, if you google it the official rate is still $1 = 1515 L.L. Salaries are way behind for example if any worker used to get $500/month which = 900,000 L.L on the official rate now gets like ≈ $30/month which is REALLY sad to see. Most of the people living here can’t even afford food. Electricity has been off for a long time now and all we have are people giving us electricity from their private generators and it costs minimum like 3,000,000 L.L which ≈ $100 so like 60% of people have no electricity. As for the internet services it’s horrible as well, internet used to be 70,000/month so like $3 (on black market rate) but now it’s 350,000 L.L ≈ $22 (3/4 of monthly salaries).
These are some of MANY things to mention even food is SUPER expensive and many cannot afford bread to eat. Last but not least, education fees are so expensive and the upcoming generations will no longer have the chance to even learn write their names.
Long story short, I decided to work on creating a non profit organization where I launch a website with a donation link and start collecting donations worldwide. Every dollar would be worth it and it might even feed children on the streets. I’m really determined and have hope that I could make a change with the help of generous people. I’ll be helping everyone with no exceptions whether they’re struggling with rents, education, food, bills or anything for real. The situation is super horrible in here and I hope I could make even a slight change and make peoples’ lives somewhat better.
I’m here writing this to ask what people on here think and if I should keep going (which I think it’s 100% the best decision I made in my life) and I’m looking forward for any tips that’d be appreciated and helpful.
