deal with caution with whoever it is, I have had people with 50ish rep scam me before, overall its a really toxic community but if you want that for whatever reason I guess enjoy

The website itself is trustworthy, however, most stuff here is done by the community. If we take the profile of Patrick3, we can see his reputation score - 10

The higher that number is, the safer they are.

1-2 red ratings with a lot of greens should be ignored, as a lot of people(including myself) have people that don't particularly like them, so will try to "trash" their sales.

Make sure you don't get scammed, and don't take anything the community says about you to your head. The people here are often not the nicest to people, it's something you'll have to put up with if you want to be able to do anything.

to add onto phil's analysis, you shouldn't straight up ignore those with negative rep, but you SHOULD look and see if it's relevant. if it's about the user being toxic and most of their positive rep is about them being reliable, they're probably safe.
If you have ANY doubts about someone, I encourage you to investigate them a little. Take a look at their post history, see what sort of deals they did, see if there's any open scam reports, and see if you can find any closed ones and if those were closed because of a payback or because it was judged there was no scam, etc.

There's no absolute way to be able to trust someone. However, you can find a lot of things that may tell you whether its a good idea to trust someone or not.

Finally, there's the thing of what people stand to lose if they scam. It does not take into account guilt etc, just hard, selfish numbers. I'm using myself as an example here. If I got banned from the site, I'd lose out on multiple hundreds of dollars per month, at least. So you can probably trust me on deals involving a few hundred or less.
Going off nothing other than that line of thinking, I wouldn't trust me with deals involving multiple thousands, as that might be too tempting.

apart from that there's this: https://www.mc-market.org/wiki/how-to-not-get-scammed-a-general-guide/
It might save you from some of the more obvious and avoidable scams.
