Although I agree, with that statement to use IntelliJ; Eclipse isn't a terrible start nor is using 2 IDE's necessarily a bad thing. Although I was raised with Eclipse as every tutorial does so unfortunately - skip Eclipse and get into IntelliJ First.

Please keep several things in mind when starting to program. Understand everything before you get into Microservices, API's, or Frameworks. I used to consider myself a legend for making Hub cores and only that but now I've moved and expanded out.

Going straight into Spigot may be both a good & bad idea depending how you wanna interpret it; do you wanna use Java for the possible near future as a career? or shall you stick with Spigot and only that.

I've made an entire thread full of resources for newcomers to Java below

Also don't forget take your time don't feel rushed and don't forget there's lots of toxic people within the Development community who claim to be the best and act like they know the best so don't get downgraded / demotivated upon meeting them or if they provide "constructive" criticism.

  • Learn how to Program calmly, and "why give a fuck about others opinions if all they do is trash you"? is my approach really and take your time.
