Hello all!

Recently I have thought about going into some sort of development (Java or Web). But I was also thinking about a irl job as another option. I wanted to get some opinions on which one you think would be better. I know some people say do the one I like more, but I'm not sure which one I will like more.

P.S I know some basic HTML so I could go for that now. But for a job I would have to wait for the summer.
P.S.S Maybe list why one would be better than the other!

Best regards,
Katana

Why not get a job and learn development as well?

Knowing some basic html is not going to make you any money, sorry. Both languages take years to learn and java will be obsolete within the next 10 years.

Look at it in this perspective, everything in the future will be based on computing, which will require people that are able code, if you can do that now, then you'll have years experience before that business is booming, IMO go for Java/Web Development. I also recommend learning some other languages as they'll come in handy.

Yes I am fully aware how long it will take to learn any developing language. I didn't plan on developing yet but getting a plan for the future! Thank you for your response.

Just curious, why will Java be obsolete?

It is an old programming language and compared to newer languages such as Oracle, it is very verbose. Even the Minecraft team itself thinks so, as their windows 10 version is written in C++.[DOUBLEPOST=1503267619][/DOUBLEPOST]
I doubt it'll be obsolete, the amount of systems using it currently wouldn't make it happen IMO. It'd be updated dramatically if I am right though.
Agreed, I think obsolete is a bit too broad of a statement but it will definitely become less and less useful with newer and better languages becoming available.

I guess whatever you're best at of course
Completly agree, just not sure yet as I have never had a job before. I will probably try out some sort of development until the summer and then try out a job to see which will be better for me!

Thanks everyone for the advice, locking the thread for now!
